In Lemmer, you are in the immediate vicinity of the cozy center. Within walking distance of the ship you will find several supermarkets and countless restaurants and terraces. Lemmer has a beautiful sandy beach, and on the less beautiful days there is an indoor pool nearby. A short walk takes you to the Woudagemaal - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest steam pumping station in the world.

Lemmer is a compact IJsselmeer town, where almost all facilities are within walking distance of the harbor. During the water sports season Lemmer is teeming with tourists and travelers. The atmosphere is a pleasant blend of (semi-) modern water sports and a historic Zuiderzee city. From Lemmer both the IJsselmeer and the Friese lakes area are within reach - so it can be sailed on any type of weather. As Lemmer also has a strong regional function, the level of facilities is great.

Lemmer is known in and outside the Netherlands for the Ir. D.F. Woudagemaal (pumping station). This UNESCO World Heritage is the largest and only working steam pumping station in Europe and can be visited. The visitor center and the guide are definitely worth a visit - the pumping station dates back to the time when traditional sailing ships were still carrying out their original task of transporting cargo. The tourist office can be found in the same building as the Oudheidskamer (historical museum). The tourist office in Lemmer is part of the tourist office Waterland van Friesland (www.vvvwaterlandvanfriesland.nl) - they know all the activities and events in Lemmer and its surroundings. The store is full of Frisian souvenirs!

The weekly market on Thursday is a nice opportunity to buy delicious (regional) products. The bakers, butchers, cheese shops and fish shops based in Lemmer are very well known and certainly as good as the weekly market!
